Queer trans drawing booking now

Queer and trans drawing class – Monday night 6 week class starts 8th November – Monday 13th Dec 6.30 – 8.30pm upstairs at Thistle Hall, Upper Cuba St Wellington

A queer and trans space for us to explore drawing . In my experience it can be a very powerful and liberating experience to represent ourselves and our communities, in our own ways. So I’d like to share this with you. Some of what we do will be expressive drawing, and some will be life drawing with a model.

“I’m just gonna throw out a few words to describe the things I felt and saw during this experience: Open, warm, messy, creative, friendly, beautiful, kindness, smiles, laughter, colourful, shadows, shade, smudgy, supportive, reflection, peaceful, consistent, eccentric, stillness, grounded, fulfilling, energy, accepted, pride, strength.” Feedback from participant

We will all have different levels of experience and resources to share, and my aim is that we learn from each other, and all hold the space together with generosity, care and compassion. We will learn lots about drawing together in this class, but it is also about process, being together, and creating community. You don’t have to be able to draw, or have ever drawn before. Mistakes, and trying things out are just as valuable as a ‘good drawing’.

Thanks to generous funding from Creative Communities through Wellington City Council, I have 7 free places for low and unwaged people to have a place – yay! 8 paid places, at $285 for the six weeks, all materials included.
