We cover: gesture drawing, extended gesture, composition, selection of work, reflection on our processes, and much more!

– $295.00 materials and model fees included

Class hold 12 people with easels for all, wonderful models, and as always, expressive, exciting exercises.

“your classes are utterly different to anything from books and more traditional classes.  You give students the permission we need to make a total mess of something and still feel OK about that.  Your leadership is outstanding and I was really glad to have the classes work like a unified team rather than a bunch of individual students.” Workshop participant

Six weeks of life drawing class, 2 hrs per week in an evening class. We work from short exercises that challenge how we see, to build form in new and expressive ways. We work big, small, on tables and on easels. Fantastic models, expressive, kind and experienced teaching in a warm and supportive environment. I will teach you a range of techniques and styles to draw the human form with charcoal and mixed media.

All materials provided. 6 week class running weekly – 2 hours per class

Colour Class

A Six week class exploring COLOUR!
Colour class will reveal secrets and share techniques for finding colours that pop, and getting past fear of colour. We’ll use artist models to learn, as well as playing with mixing, comparing, and applying! No theory, just experimentation and my usual fun, participatory exercises where we get to work it out together and create a wide range of drawings.

We will make some abstract work, and drawings from our wonderful life models.

Queer and Trans*drawing class

This is a space where we can find ways to be in our body and let it speak through drawing. It’s about representing ourselves. It’s about seeing ourselves, and being ourselves. We also get to be together in a warm and welcoming space, building community and learning something new together.

We will make process based charcoal drawings, get to know our materials and learn a bunch of expressive techniques in the first three weeks, and then draw a model in the next three weeks.

You don’t need any experience of drawing to come along, and all materials will be provided.

6 week class running weekly – 2 hours per class

Big Drawing.

Wanna go big? I am known for my huge works that engage the whole body – inviting viewers into a full body space of colour and line. These works have to be witnessed in person people often tell me; standing before a charcoal drawing of a vivid, moving person larger than life is so different to seeing it on a screen. And so is the making! I’ve decided to share some of the ways I work with a small group of 7 maximum participants. We will use lots of energy, fast and slow, to delve into what happens when we really take up the whole page. A big one!
